Here is a picture of my dad
and his stallion "Sir Duncan". He was
registered in AMHA and in AMHR. Dad and I traveled
many miles in search of good horses to buy. We had a
lot of laughs during our trips. Dad and I joked
about how I was spending my inheritance while he was
alive. Dad passed away in 1997. I'm glad he
had fun helping me spend my inheritance.
My
dad made a suggestion to an auctioneer in our home town
Harriston that we needed a miniature horse sale in
Ontario. This man followed through with dads
suggestion which led to an annual spring and fall
miniature horse sale. Dad sold many horses
through this sale under the name of E & F Stables. This
is a picture of my dads mares and foals.
Dad made a suggestion to a
fellow breeder from the Harriston area, that we
needed a miniature horse show. Thanks to this couple
and their family, Harriston now runs an annual miniature
horse show. Each year I donate a trophy in memory of
my dad. This trophy is given to the supreme halter horse.
Featured in this picture from the 2001 Harriston
show, is me presenting Cathy Wills and her horse Boomer
with this trophy.
My dad had a pair of
palominos that were very special to him and when he passed
away I thought I would keep them. I had a man come
to see the other horses I was selling for mom and the man
immediatly said the only ones that caught his eye was the
palominos. I said they were not for sale and if they
were they would be very expensive so that I knew he would
not sell them again. Well........he paid the price
and it is his son that is driving my dads team. The
look on Darcys face is what my dad would have looked like
if he would have got the girls hitched up himself.
